I think this movie will appease the thirst of old Bill and Ted fans for a sequel and may disappoint quite a few. its too bad I was really hoping to like it and I am left feeling underwhelmed. I think with few movies to come out this year and given the state of the world and its positive message it will get a pass and it may be a good introduction to a new generations of kids who may never have heard of Bill and Ted altho they will soon find that the first 2 were way better than this 3rd one.
It was my 68 year old fathers bday and I purchased Bill and Ted 3 on streaming for us to watch. Both my parents fell asleep about 40 mins into it.
It takes a while for the movie to get going so if you are a bill and ted fan like i was youll stick with it to the end to see where the story goes. If you arent a fan and older i dont think it will hold your attention.
The nostalgia factor and the sweetness of the movie and of keanu and alex chemistry and friendship holds you through to the end altho i found very little reward qualities in the ending. I didnt like the pro women woke ending which completely bungles with the whole concept of the first 2 films and the end song wasnt very good.
I didnt particularly like the sub plot of the daughters and i didnt like rufus daughter or the woman leader in charge. Most of the supporting characters apart from death and the robot were a miss including the musical legends who dont really do anything interesting. Same with the wives who i didnt really understand the plot. Everyone ends up time travelling and it just gets confusing. I would have preferred if they had just focused on Bill and ted.
I thought alex was the best and played 50 year old bill right on the money. Relaxed with his signature way of speaking but older and more mature. Keanu seems like a great guy and can be great in the right role like John Wick Mainly a role where he gets to fight and be an intense bad*ss and doesnt need to express too much or have too much dialogue or else he comes off rehearsed and stiff. He plays off as well as he can with alex but he is still too serious and too intense and has outgrown the carefree quality of young ted.
Also the wardrobe department managed to do the impossible. Make keanu NOT look attractive in a movie. Travesty! Unflattering hairstyle with unflattering ill fitting clothes. Whoever decided this look on him should be fired. Should have brought in the stylist from the John wick movies to dress him. I think this is the worst hes ever looked in a movie.
